One soldier holding the shop
In the June gameplay walkthrough, Matt Searcy identifies Maco as one of E-Day's new characters. Bravo finds him alone, defending the grocery store with a Vulcan. He runs out of ammunition, a situation the developers say recurs for him.[1]
| Element | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Maco and the Vulcan | Another Gear is still fighting in the city. |
| Bravo arrives | The squad begins reconnecting with a wider COG force. |
| Tai and the broken bayonet | The grocery-store sequence also feeds the Lancer's origin story. |

Mako or Maco?
The June developer transcript uses Maco; the launch skin menu uses Mako. Both spellings lead here.[1][2]
Is he one of the four playable Bravo Squad characters?
No. The announced campaign co-op roster consists of Marcus, Dom, Mags and Lucas.[3]
For the larger cast, start with Bravo Squad and Tai Kaliso. Maco's encounter belongs to their first efforts to find other defenders, rather than a separate playable campaign.[1][3]
