Choose the job before choosing the skin

Official Horde Siege class selection screen with Dom selected as Breacher
Class and character skin are separate choices. The official reveal interface shows Dom as Breacher; it does not lock Dom to that role.[1]
Four roles, four useful questions[1]
RoleWhat the class gives youChoose it if…
AssaultCover damage bonus; Sonic Disruptor stuns. You like holding a firing position.
BreacherMelee/status resistance; Adrenaline Injector heals and reduces damage. You like committing to close-range pushes.
MarksmanCritical damage bonus; Pulse Drone marks targets. You like identifying threats and precision fire.
MedicFaster regeneration; Stim Vaporizer heals/revives nearby Gears. You like keeping the team fighting.

These are starting points, not a ranking. Play the role whose decisions you want to practice. A familiar class with a clear job is more useful than copying an untested ‘best build’.

Turn four choices into a squad plan

Before deployment, agree who watches the objective, who can push forward and who checks downed teammates. If everyone picks the same class, make the responsibility explicit so all four do not chase the same enemy at once.

Class duplicates are allowed, and any skin can be combined with any class. The Medic’s Stim Vaporizer can help nearby downed Gears from other squads, giving its rescue role value beyond your own four players.[1]

Is one of every class mandatory?

No. The developer explicitly permits duplicate classes, including four Breachers. A mixed team is an option, not a matchmaking requirement.[1]

Read mods as three layers

Official Gnasher modification interface with a selected weapon mod
Weapon Mods change the gun. Armor and Tactical Gear upgrades affect different parts of your loadout.[1]
What you are upgrading[1]
Mod familyDecision to make
ArmorChoose the soldier benefit you need: survivability, reserves or handling.
Tactical GearChoose how the class ability supports your mission.
WeaponChoose the gun’s behavior and attachments.

Change one part of the loadout at a time and use it for several missions. That makes it easier to notice whether the change solves your problem: staying alive, keeping the ability available or handling a particular fight.

Class levels unlock equipment and mods. Weapon Mods then require a Weapon Parts purchase before equipping. Weapon customization is shared across classes, so a configured gun keeps those mods when you use it on another class.[1]

Selected early class unlocks

Check the level for the class you are playing before planning a loadout. These published selections give useful checkpoints; they cover a few early Armor Mods rather than the full level track.

This is the guide's published list. Use each checkbox to track that level's listed mods. Blank cells mean it supplied no mod in that family at that level. A missing row does not establish an empty game reward; compare the recorded Assault cards. Inspect your current card before interpreting a bonus. These checkpoints do not establish the complete class track.

The unlock is only half the loop

Class progress → usable Weapon Mod[1]
  1. XP

    Level the class

Open new equipment and mod choices.

  2. PARTS

    Collect and extract

Successful squad extraction keeps mission-earned Parts.

  3. BUY

    Purchase the unlocked mod

Spend Weapon Parts on the Weapon Mod.

  4. EQUIP

    Check the loadout

Use the same configured weapon across your classes.

A new unlock can still leave you short of Parts. Make extraction the session’s goal before adding another risky detour. The Horde Siege extraction guide explains the Raven and the one-survivor mission-success rule.

Choose difficulty with the launch tuning in mind

Developer class-level recommendations[1]
DifficultySuggested class level
Infantry10–20
Commander20–30
AllfatherMaximum

The launch tuning increases Commander, Allfather and Invasion difficulty, raises equipment and Squad Perk Energy costs, and reduces some Weapon Part payouts. August-beta farming routes and prices should therefore not be assumed to work identically in the launch build.[15]

Move up when your team can finish objectives and extract reliably at the current level. If runs fail at the same point, identify the cause together before adding more difficulty.

Connect a class session to a reward

The achievement planning table pairs each Tactical Gear with its class-specific task. Published skin reports also connect maxing all four classes to Siege Ops Dom; see character unlock routes.[16][17][18]

No exact damage build, cooldown breakpoint or fastest Parts-per-hour route is claimed here. Those need reproducible launch-build measurements; this guide helps you choose a role and understand the verified upgrade loop.
