Longshot and Breechshot are not interchangeable

What the official material actually names[1][2]
NameEvidenceScope of the claim
LongshotJune campaign revealNamed for precision fire and using elevated positions. This confirms the weapon without providing a full stats sheet.
BreechshotJuly gameplay updateSeparately described with round-by-round reload and a one-shot headshot in PvP. That statement is about Breechshot.
‘Sniper’General player wordingInsufficient to identify either rifle, a control setting or a particular build.
Reading the evidence

If a clip or question does not show the weapon name, avoid transferring Breechshot’s announced headshot rule to Longshot. Identify the rifle and mode before comparing reload behavior or damage.

Aiming, scopes and projectile travel

The July gameplay update describes projectile travel time across the new weapons sandbox, aiming from either shoulder, and scope sway. These are reasons to distinguish E-Day’s aiming behavior from a remembered setup in another Gears title. They do not provide a Longshot-specific projectile speed or a measured bullet-drop curve.[2]

Reading the evidence

Travel time and bullet drop are different properties. A projectile taking time to reach its target does not, by itself, tell you how much to aim above a target. This entry therefore gives no distance-based aiming offsets or lead values.

Can you aim without using the scope?

How do I avoid scoping in with the sniper?

First identify whether you have Longshot or Breechshot, then check the aim and zoom bindings for your chosen control scheme. The reviewed official material does not establish a universal ‘unscoped Longshot’ toggle or button sequence. We will not turn a beta clip or an older game’s binding into an E-Day control instruction.[1][2]

For controls practice, the announced training options are covered in Versus: learning the new movement. This is a useful route even if your main interest is the campaign, because it separates learning a weapon from competing in a live match.[3]
