Create the opening before pouring in ammunition

The official Seeder encounter loop[1]
  1. Approach

    Get close

The fight requires a deliberate approach to the hole.

  2. Provoke

    Taunt it out

Draw the Seeder out so it flips over.

  3. Attack

    Aim at the fleshy head

Its exposed head is the vulnerable target.

This is the encounter sequence described by The Coalition. The announcement does not provide a specific button prompt or distance for the taunt, so follow the game's encounter cues rather than assuming a separate taunt control exists.[1]

Make the approach a squad action

A useful co-op arrangement is for one player to approach while teammates prepare to fire at the opening. Clear nearby infantry and keep a route back to cover; being first to the hole matters less than surviving long enough to use the exposed target.

More than an anti-air obstacle

Earlier encounters framed Seeders around their Nemacyst anti-air role. E-Day's gameplay announcement adds direct attack-and-defeat mini-boss fights with a vulnerable-head mechanic.[1]

The Reaver entry describes a different large creature that can bring infantry into the fight. Use the Locust Field Guide to compare the roster.
