What changed from the older Gnasher?
| Aspect | E-Day detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | Six shells, reduced from eight in the comparison used by the developer | Track remaining shots; this is not an eight-shot magazine. |
| Reload | Individual shells with active reload | Reloading is a sequence of shell insertions, rather than a single whole-magazine event. |
| Role | Close-range shotgun | Capacity alone does not establish damage, spread or one-shot distance. |
The developer’s comparison is not a claim that every past Gears build used the same eight-shell tuning. Older guides can refer to a particular game, playlist or patch. For E-Day, the dated reveal above is the relevant baseline until a later official update replaces it.[2]
What round-by-round active reload means
The active-reload interaction applies while inserting shells individually. This makes shell management a different task from waiting for one magazine swap. The reveal does not establish a universal reload duration or a damage multiplier to reproduce in a timing chart.[2]
For learning the system, separate two questions: how many shells are loaded, and what the current reload state is. A screenshot of a mod cannot answer either for every loadout. The announced Combat Training space is a better place to try the weapon and your selected controls once the game is available.[1]
What the modification screen shows
The official image above shows the Gnasher’s customization interface, including a Perfect Reload Mod selection. It documents the presence of a mod system; the screen is not a final recommendation for the strongest build. The developer also explicitly gives a bayonet-equipped Gnasher as an example of how far customization can go.[1]

| Unlock mods through class progression, then buy them with Weapon Parts. Successful extraction matters for keeping earned parts. | No weapon mods. A customized PvE Gnasher is not an advantage you can bring into competitive matchmaking. |
Damage questions without invented numbers
Do COG shotguns do more damage than Locust shotguns?
The announced Versus rules give players the same starting equipment and exclude weapon mods. They do not describe a COG-side Gnasher damage bonus. Horde adds class progression, difficulty and modifiers, so a PvE damage observation is not a controlled comparison of two Versus weapons.[1]
Beta reports about range, hit registration or a shot that seemed weak are useful questions to investigate, but they are not a measured damage table. Until an applicable official value or reproducible versioned test exists, this entry leaves pellet damage, spread and one-shot distance unspecified.
